Really frustrating problem

Argh Im pulling my hair out trying to fix this on x64..

I can't seem to be able to uninstall or install any msi based software.

I have tried everything I can think of:
File permissions
Environment variables
Some regisrty key values
Disabling windows reporting service
Deleteing folders and recreating them
Using 3rd party apps
MSI cleanup which I cant ****ing install it because its an msi package :/
A repair install (which failed due to msi...)
Using a diff account
some more I forgot

Can anyone else please help? I really don't want too/have the time to do a full backup and reinstall.

Cheers

Is your windows installer running in services? Mine defaults to 'manual' but on rare occasion it won't start unless I go in and start it.

Yeah its there, also set attributes and permissions on msiexec in windows and windows/syswow64 still no dice.

Un registered and re registered services... nothing seems to work and I really hoped to be able to play a game today as this is the first weekend I have been able to do so in months and it will be a little while until I can again.... only saving grace is my andriod which is keeping me busy :)

Do you have an error code?

Is there enough disk space available?

Have you checked your partitions? I've seen this before where for some weird reason the disc had 2 partitions, one just big enough for the OS and one for storage, and for some reason his system kept trying to install to the smaller (and full) partition.

If you only have a single partition try splitting the disk into 2 partitions and installing to the new one.

2x 1 TB Drives (Spanned)
4*160GB In Raid

Found out what the problem was.... windows/installer was corrupted by an app attempting to 'clean'it...

used recuva to restore pretty much everything and it's all good now. Will still do a full rebuild at some point soon though.

You found the issue, cool!

Might I ask what app was causing the problem? I'd like to avoid it.

+1

Also, it never hurts to check your windows event logs...

Sometimes msi packages will put complete install logs in your temp folders too.
