Linux Mint 9 "Isadora"
If you're new to Linux then Linux Mint is an excellent choice. It's based off Ubuntu but has it's own set of tools and set-up with nice defaults. It's also a great distro for any other users of course, since I'm using it now and can say it's great so far.
You can try a LIVE CD or DVD http://www.linuxmint.com/blog/?p=1403

If you have a USB pen, you can use UNetbootin to run it rather than a CD or DVD. http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
