libGL.so.1: undefined symbol: _nv000008gl
I have successfully compiled and installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.36.24 video card driver on my Linux x86-64 box with 2.6.34 Kernel, and the NVidia driver works fine with X11 for standard graphics.

However... GL doesn't work. I get "libGL.so.1: undefined symbol: _nv000008gl"
when I try to run any application that uses GL. I have copied libGL.so.195.36.24 and libGL.la to /usr/lib64, and I've deleted all previous libGL modules. My previous version of the NVidia driver, 185, worked OK with GL but not 195. Any suggestions ?

Re: libGL.so.1: undefined symbol: _nv000008gl
are you running 32bit application? Have you installed 32bit OpenGL libraries?

Why don't you use NVIDIA installer?

Re: libGL.so.1: undefined symbol: _nv000008gl
This error indicates that the incorrect version of libGLcore.so.1 is being picked up from somewhere. Please run `ldd /usr/bin/glxinfo` and see which libGLcore.so.1 it's using. If it's in a nonstandard location, please figure out where the stale version came from and uninstall it.

You might have better luck if you stick with your Linux distribution's driver packages.
