GTX 470 with dedicated PhysX question

I just ordered a GTX 470 and I like to pair it with an old 8800GT for dedicated PhysX. I have an MSI X58 motherboard with 3 PCI-E slots for 3-way SLI. Obviously I'm going to put the GTX 470 in the first slot. Can I put the 8800GT in the 3rd slot or does it have to go in the second slot? By putting in the third slot it gives the fan on the GTX 470 more room to breathe.

Good question that I was going to ask, except I have a GTX460. I don't know the answer.
Anyone?

I think the only difference it might make is whether or not it will run in PCIe 2.0 mode, but more than likely it won't make any noticeable performance difference if it doesn't.

if it has 3 slots it shouldn't matter on an X58 place it in the third slot give your 470 room to breathe :o)

Re: GTX 470 with dedicated PhysX question

Most likely the third slot only has bandwidth for 8x, but for a PhysX card that will most likely amount to no performance loss. Even most standard multi-GPU video card setups won't see a difference if the second graphics card is in an 8x slot.
