Finally. Jailbreak for iOS4.

Get to http://www.jailbreakme.com/ on your idevice, and slide the bar, and jailbreak your device. No requiring to sync to iTunes and what not, everything is done on the idevice. It downloads cydia on your home screen, and NO REBOOT! How's that possible? Anyways, yea, just get on that site, and slide the bar.

It supports everything in iOS4, and 4.01. It doesn't support an iPad model, not sure which.

Anyways, downloaded, and installed cydia. :D

Try IT!

The jailbreak has been available for some time. This site, however, is brand new and very cool might I add.

Not for all devices. There have been jailbreaks for like the iPhone 4 and the 2nd gen iPod. This site, is for everything! Including almost all iPad versions.

What benefits are there for jailbreaking? After the iOS4 update, most of the features I liked in the Jailbreak were offered in the OS itself.

+1

I was jailbroken 99% of the time before iOS4 but now I don't. It has most features I want. Sure, I would love to tether for free and I might jailbreak just to do that but I rarely do that so for now I remain un-jailbroken.

This method of "jailbreaking" is a bit scary IMO, or it would be if I owned one of these devices. They use an exploit in apple's PDF reader which allows arbitrary code execution. If somebody wanted to they could own your iphone/ipad/ipod/macintosh just by getting you to open a PDF file or visit a website that embeds one.

From there they have access to all of your personal information you have on your phone, e.g. your phone number, email address, your contact's phone numbers, your personal emails, any passwords you have stored on it, etc.

I don't know if any such virus exists in the wild that exploits this in that manner, but it is certain one will show up if apple doesn't patch this hole soon.
