3D Plasma or LCD LED
Guys, I'm buying a new TV, have narrowed it down to 2 Samsungs. One a 7000 series 58" Plasma 3D ready, the other a 55" LED LCD no 3D, both can be done at the same price. It just comes down to the tech. Things to consider.

I play a lot of console games and listen to music with Windows Media Centre 7, so burn in may be an issue, I'm not sure, never had a plasma before.
The room the TV will be in is very bright with direct sun ligh in the morning, but it has effective vertical blinds.
I tried the 3D, I notice a lot of flickering, this is across all TVs I tried and happens in the cinema, so 3D isn't that important to me.

So it comes down to picture quality. Are the LED TVs better? Has anyone here tried a Sammysung 3D plasma? It's bigger and plasma has often proved it can hold it's own when it come to quality.
With the Plasma they reckon they'll throw in 4 sets of 3D glasses, they are 150AUD a pop here, so that's not bad.

Tough decision. My head hurts from it all. I also request swiff replies, I plan to purchase the TV shortly.

Isnīt Panasonic VT20 the one to have right now?

Itīs 3D capable, have quick response times and phosphor trails are severely reduced.

Yeah. I saw that one. A bit small, but the 3D was pretty good. Not as good as Sony's latest offerings. Sammys are pretty much the same in 2D, but Pana probably has the better 3D, still as I said, 3D is not the major point, plus with the Sammy, they'll throw in 4 sets of glasses.

The Pannys smoke everything out right now, I've been researching this for six months or more, going to all the Best Buys I can.

I've looked at all the LED's, Plasmas, DLP, from 42 to 65 inches...with exception to the discontinued Pioneer Kuros, this TV has the best PQ out right now IMO ;)

Now that I've finally bought a new house, I'll be getting the 50VT25 for sure.

That would be the most important factor for me.

Holy **** Lee that price is insane! The older 50VT20 costs like $3300 here, the 25 is not even listed :o
US tech prices... Everything is so much cheaper over there :drooling:

Yeah we are really lucky :)

Re: 3D Plasma or LCD LED
I would say (without seeing either one) get the plasma. Much faster for gaming, although the LCD's are much better than they were. The reflection problem is bad on both LCD and plasma. With plasma it's more like a mirror (or a tube TV) where you can see a reflection of whatever is in front of the tv, but the picture does not wash out like it will with an LCD. With the LCD in direct sun light, you get a big washout spot on the TV that too me makes it almost unwatchable.

The burn-in problem has been taken care of for the most part. At work I have left DVD menus and receiver setup menus on for 5 hours or more with no problem. Even if it does get burn-in all you half to do is use the TV and after a short time it will go away.

But like always, if you can see both TV's side by side and play with the settings, that is the only way to tell what picture is best. All the specifications don't mean much, you half to view it in person.

Plasma 3D, no doubt you'll be very happy you have 3D as an option cuz when that movie or that game comes out you'll want it.

Re: 3D Plasma or LCD LED
Yeah, that's what we are leaning towards. Looks like we can get the Plasma cheaper, it's bigger, they will throw in 4 sets of glasses and even if I never touch the 3D it's a better deal. The Sammysung does 2D to 3D, but I'd never use it anyway. I hate cheap effect like that and Motionflow etc.

The Pannys are very nice, but pretty rare, but they are also dirt cheap. I'll see if they have any I can try out. Still there was the new Sony LED LCD that just beat out the panny. Then again the Panny was in a fully lit room, the Sony was in the dark room. However the the Sony was double the price. ::(:

We got the Sony KDL-40NX700 about a week ago. Picture looks great with HD channels. Haven't tried playing a Blu-ray on it though as we don't have a Blu-ray player.

::(: Get PS3!

I actually missed out on a really good deal with the Sammy. They were giving away 3D BD players in May.

Re: 3D Plasma or LCD LED
I'd go for Panasonic over Samsung since Panasonic has acquired Pioneer technology and patents when Pioneer left Plasma business. I don't think 3D is worth to invest, at least right now. I'm holding off until glasses' not required to view 3D.

I decided to wait on buying new TV until Panasonic rolls out 2011 models. Rumored it's supposed to exceed Pioneer Kuro Elite series with much deeper black level, improved features, etc.

Got the Sammy. It's cheaper, bigger, we got 4 sets of glasses, 5 year warranty and free delivery.

Saw the Panasonic, it is a very nice TV for those who are also looking.
