MSI Geforce GTX260 SP 216 Heat jumping
 

Hi every one
I Have msi t2d 896-oc sp216.
card start to heat when i load app like media player or app that loading 3d clock. heating is so fast more than 10 degree in next 3 second.
when i run gpu-z or doing a thing that cause to load 3d clock again the card start to cooling Fast
any one can help me?

How long has it been between cleanings on the card? Dust and dirt build up can cause excessive heat pretty quickly.

You can also check to see if the heatsink is still tight, or if the thermal paste needs to be replaced.

If you don't have the card's fan speed set manually try setting it 55 or 60% and see if that helps.

yes its clean.

i use msi after burner fan control setting.
new rule is 60 degree heat 75 fan speed and at last for 80 degree 100% fan speed.
msi after burner is v2.0 final and my vga driver is 259.32

i use ZP IDL-280 thermal paste month ago
the factory clock is:
gpu clock 655MHz gpu-z reported 648MHz
memory clock 1050MHz gpu-z reported 1053Mhz

I would reseat the heatsink again just to be on the safe side, and if it's still doing it consider replacing the card.

As fast as your temps are rising either the fan or the card is defective. I would lean towards the fan. Does the fan spin up right away when you start the computer? If not, even a 2 or 3 second delay with a 3d app running is enough to cause you trouble.

Just a thought - if you reseat the heatsink, try the card again, but if it still does the same thing, pull the heatsink back off and make sure it's actually making contact with the gpu surface. If not, that is the problem.
