NVidia GT240M in Ubuntu 10.10

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10. Using the README instructions for GT240M driver (260.19.21) on nVidia site, I managed to install the driver. lshw now shows driver=nvidia for the Graphic card.

Problem 1:
But, when I try to use googletalk, it comes back with an error message "A problem occurred when trying to access your graphic driver". Google suggests this problem will occur only for graphic cards that miss some features of OpenGL 2.0. http://www.google.com/support/forum/...74683e9c&hl=en

Problem 2:
When I run glxInfo, I get the following error message - Xlib: Extension "GLX" missing on display":0.0"

Problem 3:
In System->Preferences->Sound, Output tab if I choose "High Definiton Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI) Stereo" and then try to play some audio, then there is no sound. If I choose "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" sound starts to work again. Is this an issue?

Please help me debug this issue and get NVidia GT240M running at full efficiency on my laptop. (Acer Aspire 5935g)
