i7 - Clock Speeds reporting wrong with OC?

Hi guys, got a strange issue here.

Got an overclock going on the i7 950 upto 3.8Ghz.

The bios reports it at this speed, so does CPU-Z.

Unfortunately, Windows itself and Everest have different ideas.

Any idea what's going on here? Strange one.

Speedstep and Turbo are disabled btw.

Have you refreshed the rating in windows?

This kind of thing happens all the time. I've seen misreported clock speeds in Windows going back to the socket 370 days.

If CPU-Z is saying it's at the right speed go with that. Windows says my ancient core 2 duo system is running at 4.5ghz. CPU-Z and the bios say otherwise.

Yeah, that's the first thing I did actually.

It's like the x24 multi throws it off.

Happens to me all the time but for me it's usually CPU-Z that reports it wrong.

windows is wrong. If you doubt it, do some math... BCLK x multi = speed

Ok. Now I see why people hate the x24 multi. Prime95 run failed over night. lol Oh well.

Also, don't use prime95, use LinX.

I passed 20 runs in Linx.

Got a feeling what happened, was that the Anti-Virus started doing weird stuff whilst Prime95 was running.

Windows and Everest are wrong. MS is stupid enough to figure out overclocked speed and everest is garbage.
