Video card recommendation
I'm completely out of touch with vid cards right now. I bought my 2x gtx260 SLI about 3 or maybe it was 2 years ago now... what single card is 2x or more faster than what I have now (gtx260 SLI). Any url with the latest cards showing a gtx260 SLI for comparison would be appreciated...
Also, when is the next expected release date for the latest nvidia cards? Any preliminary estimates on how fast it will be compared to what's out there now... Thanks, Vanz ps. this time around I'd like to stay away from SLI and go with a single card configuration |

Re: Video card recommendation
a good place to start would be anandtech bench:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU/103 generally speaking, it will mostly depend on the games you play and the resolution Newer cards will only gain at DX10/DX11 and high res. |
Re: Video card recommendation
hmm Thanks... so the ATI 5970 is the current king of the hill for a single card solution? Any estimate on new product release dates?
1920 x 1200, NFS:HP, Gothic 4, Oblivion, Crysis + Clones, CODs, Mass Effects ...etc |

Re: Video card recommendation
Just get a single 580 and be done with it.

I don't want to deal with unsupported dual cards in games or monkey with control panel settings to get games to see it... or have to wait for developers to create special drivers for it... I know developers will create fixes or optimization for specific cards which is high priority but I'm talking about specific drivers for dual card support... Also, if in the future I wanted to add another 5970 I could then add another one as CF correct? Thanks, Vanz |

Re: Video card recommendation
Cost is about $500 for GTX580:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ription=gtx580 but I'm not really finding anything reasonable for the 5970? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ED&PageSize=20 |
Re: Video card recommendation
Well you could get a GTX 570 if you don't want to drop 500 bucks or get a 6970 as well.

Re: Video card recommendation
6950 unlocks to a 6970, get that for until the next good single pcb card appears, NVidia probably.
GTX260 now makes a useful physx card apparently? with new titles, before would have been overkill so keep one if you like the physx. yes you can. |
