Transmission freeze caused by Nvidia drivers
 

Transmission-gtk freezes when running blocklist update.
Might be caused by nvidia libGL doing something when creating new threads?
Freeze doesn't happen when using Nouveau.

Does it freeze with any blocklist? I just tested Transmission on a fully up-to-date Natty install and the blocklist update never hangs for me. I've been testing with http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.gz

If that blocklist doesn't hang on your system, can you please recommend one that does?

Okay,

I had finally time to do some more testing. I found more specific cause (Updating with invalid blocklist url breaks something) and found that this is probably not caused by Nvidia as I am able to reproduce it with Nouveau.

Thanks to your update in the launchpad bug I was able to reproduce this problem.

It does look like an NVIDIA bug actually. Maybe you reproduced it on Nouveau because for some reason it was still using the NVIDIA libGL.

You are right. I forgot to run ldconfig after selecting the mesa libGL from update-alternatives. After properly selectin the mesa libGL and runing ldconfig, I could not reproduce this with the Nouveau driver.

Can somebody please test this issue with latest nvidia drivers on Ubuntu "Natty Narwhal" and share feedback?

I just tried to load an invalid url into the blocklist in transmission-gtk and I saw no problems. I am running ubuntu 11.04 and drivers 302.17. Nvidia bug report is too big to upload.
