VDPAU + Ion + Flash = Accelerated video?

I just bought a new system that includes the ION and thought I would get smooth playback on Hulu using Flash 10.2, since they claim support for VDPAU on Linux. Unfortunately, it is dropping a lot of frames. Should accelerated Flash video work with this configuration? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this.

Running Kubuntu 10.10 32-bit with the latest Flash and NVIDIA proprietary drivers from the Ubuntu repos. Any help appreciated.

actually Adobe did not claim anything, we can see the VDPAU strings in there but as how much they are use it's another thing

do also test the Flash beta 10.3 and the Flash alpha 11.0

don't forget to make a file /etc/adobe/mms.cfg that contains:
Quote:

EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1
OverrideGPUValidation=true
you can test here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/f...0/live-player/

Their blog post is somewhat ambiguous. But whatever.

Thanks! With those configuration settings in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg, the test video runs smoothly, as does 720p video on YouTube. Hulu still has a low frame rate, but now the problem seems to be isolated to them. It's an improvement, anyway.

i'll quote them:
Put another way, Flash Player using Stage Video can effortlessly play beautiful 1080p HD video with just 1-15% CPU usage on a common Mac or Windows computer

No Linux mention regarding Stage Video.
