gtx 280 s/pdif hdmi audio
I've been fighting this battle for days, and I've made no progress. Everything I've recently found suggests that my hardware isn't even detected by Ubuntu 10.10
Code:
nick@desktop:~$ cat /proc/asound/cardsCode:
nick@desktop:~$ lspci | grep idiaCode:
nick@desktop:~$ aplay -lHere's a bit more background information. I have two hdtv's. The first is my main monitor, and it's connected to my gtx280 via a dvi-hdmi cable. I do not believe that this cable can transmit an audio signal. Since this cable is connected to my primary monitor, where I have additional speakers connected (which work fine), there's no problem here. I have a dvi-hdmi adapter connecting my gtx280's second dvi-port to an hdtv in another room via an hdmi cable. As mentioned earlier, this adapter was tested in Windows, and does transmit an audio signal via the hdmi cable. Until recently, I was attempting to do all configurations from my main monitor. Then I stumbled upon the following link, which reads: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/gp...ust_be_running Quote:
I'm so frustrated, I'm begging someone to help. Here is some output so you can get a feel for my system setup. Code:
nick@desktop:~$ cat /proc/asound/versionCode:
nick@desktop:~$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version Code:
nick@desktop:~$ uname -rCode:
nick@desktop:~$ lsb_release -ricBest Regards Nick |

Re: gtx 280 s/pdif hdmi audio
There was at least a glimmer of hope, when I found:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...20&postcount=7 which suggests patching some kernel modules. But, according to: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kerne...3638ea;hb=HEAD the patches discussed in the first link have been implemented since July of 2010, which was before the release of Ubuntu 10.10 (in August). I don't know what to do now. |

I guess I'll bump this. Someone, anyone?
