Nvidia driver 280.04
Hey,
So I discovered this new version of the new Nvidia driver yesterday in the FTP: 280.04. Since, I've seen no changelogs or even release announcements about this thing anywhere (even Googling doesn't come up with any - except for some random 'even 280.04 doesn't fix this bug' post) and yet even the latest.txt file in the FTP shows 275.09.07 as the "latest" version. So far I've only found out that this new driver supports the new v11 X server ABI so 1.11 RC1 _loads up_ but there's some serious issues with window contents and transparencies, which I have no idea whether they are caused by the driver or the server itself. But anyway, please do enlighten me (and others) about this new release of yours. Thanks for your time,E: Fixed the ABI version. The input ABI (I think) is the 13 - video ABI is 11. |

Sorry for the delay, I'm posting the announcement now.

Re: Nvidia driver 280.04
Thanks. The "latest.txt" file in the FTP still shows the old version, though: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li..._64/latest.txt

Re: Nvidia driver 280.04
That's because 280.04 is beta. We don't want nvidia-installer --update to upgrade to beta versions.

Re: Nvidia driver 280.04
this version still doesn't fix the duplicate icon in systray described here[1] when using gnome-shell

Re: Nvidia driver 280.04
Would be useful to know if the driver is supposed to fix some of the bugs reported in the forum.
I find the "Incremental bugfixes" changelog entry to be too sparse. |
Re: Nvidia driver 280.04
I found some slow of CUDA. I'm using pyoclbm (sha256 hashes) and nVidia 9800GT with overclock: 700/1070. This is 31600 with 275.09.07 and 31200 with 280.04.
