Where do I put the environment variable __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK? Do i put it in my Xorg.conf file and if so under what section?

My system currently sees my CRT as my primary monitor in twinview. I would like it to see my DFP as the primary monitor so that vertical screen tearing only takes place on the CRT not the DFP.

Not in xorg, just as an environmental variable, so just put:
export __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK="1"
in .bashrc or somewhere where your distro wants it to be set. E.g. for Gentoo it should be /etc/env.d/99local

Re: Where to put _GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK?
Ok, I placed the line

at the end of my bashrc file. Does this seem correct?

Is there a way to check if the system is seeing the LCD "DFP-0" as the primary monitor? This was in attempt to fix screen tearing on the LCD but I am still experiencing the problem.

I am trying to force my system to see my LCD monitor as the primary monitor over my CRT so that I can get rid of screen tearing on the LCD. I don't care if there is screen tearing on the CRT.

Any insight would be great!
