Battlefield 3 graphical issue : any idea?

Anyone got an idea what's causing this on my GTX570? Temps seem fine according to Speedfan (<70C loaded). This is a card cooled by Accelero custom cooler, never had issues. Got the latest drivers installed. Very annoying. Problem occurs within minutes after starting the game, again making me doubt this is a heat issue.

Sidenote: I've also noticed lately that youtube movies tend to show blocks like a poorly encoded video, this seems to occur very randomly. Maybe related?

That looks like a GPU artifact...Vram artifact a usually fuzzy specs all over the screen. If its only in BF3 I'd wait until they patch the game and see if its there after.

I'm sorry but for a 570 that looks terrible. If thoas start shooting out of the center of your view I would RMA the card.

After taking these screenshots, I rebooted the pc and played for over 2 hours without any problem. Could this be a driver issue?

Trying different drivers is the only way to find out.

Someone suggested this is a known problem with the 570 and that a cold boot fixes it. Tried this and it did work. Any more info about this? Known problem?

Asus, original 570 right after launch, fitted with an accelero cooler.

You might check for a BIOS update for your card, some early 570s had voltages set too low for their clocks to make TDP.

Just checked, seems it's a Gigabyte model (GV-N570D5-13i-B). No bios updates.

This is a driver issue, nothing is wrong with your card. This has been experienced by a TON of players and I experienced it myself on certain maps at very specific places on the map. This is even talked about on Nvidia's website.

I got rid of it by switching drivers but I'm at work and can't tell you exactly what I am on now. I do think I'm running the latest beta's though so maybe give those a shot!

Good luck!

EDIT: Her's a blurb from the beta page for the 290.53's

Key Bug Fixes

Fixes some random instances of triangular artifacts when playing Battlefield 3 (fix is now enabled for GeForce 400 and 500 series GPUs).
Fixes a default panel resolution/ timing bug in 290.36.

So install the 290.53 drivers and you should be all good!
