Xorg 2:1.11.2.902-1 from Debian turns 290.10 and Flash into a Bag of Hurt

What is it with Nvidia and Xorg lately? Do you guys communicate on changes?

Something changed when I bumped up to Xorg latest:1.11.2.902-1 in Debian Sid.

http://packages.debian.org/sid/xserver-xorg-core

The Flash Plugin routinely stalls and acts as if it's waiting for a response from X server and only when I kill the plugin does the page with impending flash load.

Dumb games like CityVille and CastleVille are now eating > 600MB of RAM. It ran up to nearly 1GB today in the plugin alone with just 3 tabs open for both Chrome Unstable and Firefox 8.

Any clues?

I confirm I have this problem too.

Something here. Furthermore, virtualbox crashed frequently.

Actually it was not caused by the xorg update, I still had this problem after downgrading.
There was a libc6 update today, and the problem seems to be gone.

Edit: BTW the libc6 version that fixes the problem is eglibc 2.13-23

The title of this thread sounds like a Phoronix headline...

Just sayin'

Did you re-upgrade after the eglibc 2.13-23 release?

I've got it and it's still leaking like a sieve.

With xorg-server 2:1.11.99.1-1 now in Experimental I'm not even bothering to touch Xorg until Nvidia fixes the tearing in Flash [if ever] or the sheer lag with each incremental update X produces that either breaks ABI for Nvidia or just makes everything slower.

It's tricky to find a working setup for Flash these days, that doesn't make firefox pause for around 8 seconds when opening a web page containing Flash.

I use Ubuntu's xorg-server (xorg-server_1.10.4-1ubuntu4.1.diff, without 191-Xorg-add-an-extra-module-path.patch, and with --enable-gestures which is required for Ubuntu's patches to compile), with nvidia 285.05.09 - this works fine. My distro is, well, "custom", based on Lunar.

I tried xorg-server 1.11.3 only temporarily yesterday, because it just brought the 8-second Flash pause back.
