The nvidia 3123 thread

I'm using them with little or no difference. I'll check when I have time if the "exit X to find a black console" bug is fixed. I'm doubtful, since it isn't mentioned in the changes notes. Share your experiences.

3123

I have an ongoing problem w/ my two analog flat panels taking a long time to actually come up. 3123 is better than the most recent couple drivers -- about 75 seconds.

Working well here. This version also fixed the problem I was having with __divdi3 in libGLcore.so (gcc 3.2-related, I think; linux-bugs said the next release should fix it), so my Athlon-XP-optimized system works with 3D now. :D

Hope it fixes...

I hope it fixes this bug I am having where my whole system hangs if I let it idle to long.... Really annoying!

What kernel are these running on?
I'm using the RH null beta, is it going to work on it?

Right now I'm only dabbling in Linux, but I'd like to make it more of a permanent fixture...

Athlon 1GHz
Asus A7V via kt133 bios 1011
Gf2 Ti
Slackware 8.1 GCC 2.95-3 default usb.i kernel

bash-2.05a# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: AGPGART
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Enabled
SBA: Enabled
bash-2.05a#

Games tested: RTCW, Q3A/TA, SoF2 (wine-opengl)
Stable, fast and no problems found.

Note
When you change values in os-registry.c (i.e. enable via 4x agp, sba, fw etc...) and after that build nvkernel you have to restart linux or you are going to get errors like "no screens found."

You should build kernel and glx drivers from the source. Hope you've selected the complete developer package during linux installation.

I doubt it...like I said I'm just playing around with it now, I just use it to surf and mail so far...
baby steps! :D

I have no clue on how or what to do what you said...any FAQs out there you can point me to?
thanks

Yes, it will work with Red Hat's null beta.

I installed from the tarballs with no issues. I'm running GCC version 2.95.3, kernel version 2.4.18, and I'm using Gentoo 1.2.

One complaint I have is that I was unable to get the kernel module working with 2.4.19. I forget the error, but I don't really need to upgrade my kernel anyway so I'm cool with it :) If one of our resident nVidia employees wants me to try to replicate the error for quality control purposes, then I'd be happy to help.

RH73

RH7.3 works, with no issues..... I am running kernel 2.4.19, on a AMD Athlon 2100+, and Asus A7V333

Replicate away.
