nVidia module and 2.4.22 kernel ACPI
I was happy using the nVidia last drivers when I update to the 2.4.22 kernel version.
Then my X doesn't start. If I use acpi=off the nVidia driver starts to work and also if I put pci=noacpi, that it is the best solution I have found for now.
The solution was found in
with a little explanation of the problem.
nVidia guys, do you know when the problem will be solved?
The card is a nVidia NV17 [GeForce4 MX 440] (rev a3)
GeForce 3 Ti 500
Have a GeForce 3 Ti 500 and kernel 2.4.22... I recompiled the kernel module. Got nothing to worry about.
¿Do you use ACPI?
If you aren't using ACPI in your kernel it is normal that you have no problems.
Is it the case?
I am using power management and ACPI.
This kind of problem needs to be addressed in the Linux kernel, the NVIDIA driver doesn't interact directly with the Linux or SBIOS ACPI implementation.
