X.org is crashing repeatedly while watching life stream video on this site: http://www.humblebundle.com/
/var/log/Xorg.0.log: Code:

Re: 295.20: X.org crash
I just had yet another X.org crash with the same backtrace while using KWin's "Desktop Grid" compositing effect.

Re: 295.20: X.org crash
This problem is still present in 295.40.
So I guess the whole 295.x line is affected. But it works fine on 290.10. Code:

I think I got the same crash issue.
Driver 290.10 is very stable, starting with 295.20 I experienced a lot of crashes. Infact 295.20 was worst, 295.33/.40 improved the situation and 302.07 almost looks stable but I still encounter a crash. I assume one is able to trigger the crash pretty constantly by browsing using Chrome and trying to "scroll" or "resize" the window. Using: Kernel 3.1.10 glibc 2.14.1 nVidia GeForce 8600GT Driver 295.20 up to 302.07 OpenSUSE 12.1 32-bit X.org 1.10.4 GNOME 3.2.1 Chromium 20.0.1128.0 TwinView / Dual-Screen Setup Snip from my Xorg log which contained the crashes: Code:
[ 1111.811]If anything else needs to be dumped or provided please ask. It appears 295.20 is much faster including the latest 302 series (yeah, xrandr!!!) which I'd really like to start using in production finally if it doesn't crash. Until then it's down to 290.10... :baaa:: Mind that the 7z.gz bug report is actually a 7z compressed file, needed to rename and recompress it appropriately to get it to upload here due to the size. |
Re: 295.20: X.org crash
I think you both facing issue with G84 with different distros. Did you guys just watching flash videos OR Doing any other work to trigger this issue.

Re: 295.20: X.org crash
Apart from flash, I can trigger the crash by scrolling in the browser or by resizing the browser window, too.

Re: 295.20: X.org crash
for me it happens randomly - most of the time tvout is enabled.

Re: 295.20: X.org crash
FunkyM: does the crash still happen if you disable the Render extension?
(ie Option "NoRenderExtension" "true" ) I am trying things at random. This one seems to maybe have helped for me (for now) |
Re: 295.20: X.org crash
The segfault is still evident after upgrading to 302.11.
Instead of disabling the Render extension (which prevents the crashes) I rather downgrade to 290.10 which works fine. Additional drawback noticed with these drivers: Switching to the console only shows black screens, switching back to the XServer works though. |
302.17: X.org crash
While it appears it is much harder to get to crash on scrolling, it occasionally still crashes on latest 302.17:
