Quadro FX3700 only 100 Hz in Stereo Mode "10" w. VG278H

Hi,

we got a new monitor, Asus VG278H, which is 120 Hz capable. We would like to use it with 3D Vision Glasses in stereo for structural biology works. Unfortunately, when connecting the monitor to a Quadro FX3700 with "Option Stereo 10" it only runs at 100 Hz, which leads to unbearable flickering in Stereo.
I already tried several things in the xorg.conf, but could not manage to convince the driver to put it into 120 Hz mode. With other monitors, e.g. Samsung 2233RZ, the same thing did always work fine.

How could I force the quadro card to run at 120 Hz in stereo 10 mode?

See if you can uncheck (disable) force gpu scaling in nvidia-settings.

This helps indeed, thank you. Do you happen to know an xorg.conf option equivalent to this and the section I have to put it in?

I am considering this monitor for structural biology work also with a quadro fx3700. Can you report on how it works or make recommendations for Xorg conf tp get 120 Hz working? Other recomended monitors?

Thank you!

Re: Quadro FX3700 only 100 Hz in Stereo Mode "10" w. VG278H

Dear eric,
The VG278H works OK for structural biology in stereo with the Quadro FX3700 and the NVIDIA 3DVision Glasses. We do not need the USB Emitter and the 3-Pin-Mini-Din Stereo Sync stuff any more, that's a real advantage.
To switch the VG278H in 120 Hz instead of 100 Hz we use alternatively

-> Option "FlatPanelProperties" "Scaling = Native"
in the xorg.conf device section. This works for conventional single seat workstations or the command

-> /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a 0/GPUScaling[DFP-0]=1,1 &
in a script of arbitrary name in the directory /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d. This works in any case, even in dual seat configurations.

The latter is absolutely equivalent to setting the appropriate option in the nvidia-settings gui.

I'm afraid we did not try other monitors.
