can't unzip update

During the uncompressing of the downloaded driver update (4496) I get an error. It says it only wrote 5120 of 10240 bytes. Is this a problem at my end or has anyone had this problem recently.

The update is not a ZIP file!
You should just run it, not unzip.

When you have used FTP and have problems, use a binary file transfer.

I am using "nvidia-installer --update"
it downloads a .run file
this file checks integrity, which passes, then proceeds to use tar to decompress the downloaded file. It dies during that decompression. Either I have somehow managed to trash my tar, or it is a bad file. I have re-downloaded it a few times

FWIW
I got it working by running the installer with the sh command instead of the NVIDIA-installer --update In retrospect I May of had a full partition impeeding the extraction before
