should I buy a 680 or another 560ti and wait till 7 series?

I only game at 1080p as Im playing on a 42" plasma. I was debating saving up some money and selling my 560ti, then buying a gtx 680. But then I started thinking that maybe another 560ti in sli would be enough till the 7 series comes out. I worry though that games like BF3 use all 1GB of memory on the card at 1080p without Fxaa and if their are any other games coming out soon that might use more, it would basically make my purchase of a second 560 ti pointless. If any of you guys have experience with 560 ti's in sli and experience with a gtx 680 please let me know if its too much overkill for 1080p. Thanks :D

It's up to you. My 560 Ti does a great job on my 1920x1200 monitor. I am not a huge AA/AF fan though, so the memory limitation doesn't bother me. If you want to get into a lot of AA/AF, I'd get a card (or two) with at least 2GB of memory.

Upgrading to a single 680 would be a nice little performance boost. We won't see the 7-series until at least the end of the year.

I don't think we'll see the 7-series until 2013. According to the Nvidia roadmap, Kepler was slated for 2012 while Maxwell won't be released until some time in 2013.

Roadmap was also updated a while back so Maxwell will be at 2014.

I really hope that nvidia will not rename simple speed refresh parts as a new generation like they did with 5xx 'series'.
The next big thing from them is the big keppler which should have 7B transistors and base of the big Quadro part as well. (GTX685?)

Nvidia has been very silent about Maxwell, but have released whitepaper about the next one in 2017 called Echelon project. (seems like they will continue the new architecture every ~3.5years.)

The GTX 680 is an awesome card. Im impressed with mine, if I was you I would go out and get a GTX680. There is always going to be a 'new' card coming out at some point in time so no perfect time to pick and buy a certain card. I can tell you that the GTX680 is a big step up from a 560ti, so if you have the cash go do it you won't regret it :)
