GK110 to feat a 512 bit bus ?

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-launching...nches-q3-2012/

Quote:

The GK110 would feature a 4GB Memory buffer which would run across a 512-bit wide bus interface. The die size would be smaller than the GF110 but still around ~500mm2 . A total number of 2304 cores which would be split into 6 GPCs which would result in 2+ TFlops of Double Precision and upto 4TFlops of Single Precision Performance.
If the information is correct, then this is the card that i have been waiting for long time :D(nana2)

If it's true that thing will be a monster.

Of course, if we've learned anything from GK104 it's that clock speed is a big factor with this architecture. So if it has more "CUDA cores" (in quotes because they changed the definition) but the clock speed is lower, it may not offer a huge advantage over GK104.

I'm not surprised, the 400 and 500 series came out in the same year. So the 700 series will most likely come out before the end of the year.

I cant see Nvidia releasing 7 series this year. I have read somewhere that GK110 will be named GTX685. Either way the GK110 card is the one im waiting for...i also refuse to pay high end money for what is effectively a mid range card..

Looks like this fall will be interesting as well, since ATI will probably release the 8970 around the same time.

Just watch for tapeouts, for a new chip to come out say by december. Then a tapeout has to happen 6 months before that time.

And if they repeat the 480 to 580 then the 780 will come out before years end. I was impatient and bought a 470, then bought the 580 8 months later. Not making that mistake again.

I see it has similar no hot-clock cuda approach like GK104..

I only hope it has more 2x - x4 more Compute units (16 - 32prefered, 7970 has 32cu) and 2x - 4x polymorph 2.0 engines - total 16 -32 or "32 - 64 fermi ones", otherwise its still not worth it :p

512bit with 1250-1500 MHz GDDR5 = 320 - 384 GB/s :headexplode:

And do not forget the 128 TMUs, and maybe more if nVidia adds more GPCs to the chip. (nana2)

:D

but I'm thinking with that wide a bus the memory will be clocked substantially slower than on gk104's and the cost is going to be high due to wafer production costs for that size of chip.

Keep in mind it's smaller than fermi, but not by much and it's on a much smaller process. I'm thinking nv lauched the 104 first as a HD4770 type move so they learn the process before unleashing this mammoth GPU on us/themselves.

How much faster you guys think this GK110 will be?

How about only 20-25% faster than 680 GTX.

If it comes with a slower clock speed, it won't be as much of a whopper as people think.
