GTX 680 + linux, What is the max pixelclock?
 
I was wondering if the maximum pixel clock is still 400 Mhz with the GTX 680 like with older cards?

I heard some people on windows were able to exceed 400 Mhz on windows. I am currently running 2560x1440 @ 400 Mhz @ 100.4 Hz and was curious to see if I could get it up to 125 Hz with a gtx 680.

Also the driver doesn't like this monitor's EDID. Not a huge deal but the vid card seems to be OK as it correctly scales in BIOS and stuff to native resolution (monitor has no scaler):

AFIK it works fine in windows as most of the people with the same monitor as me are running windows and I would think if EDID was not being read properly (resolution/modelines) it would be even more problematic on windows.

I'm considering purchasing a GTX680 for stereoscopic viewing using a 120Hz monitor. Is > 400MHz pixelclock required for this?

You can use a 120Hz monitor but you can't use 3D Stereo under Linux with consumer grade ( read GTXxxx ) cards, a Quadro is needed, yes, it's not like on Windows, please call nvidia and complain! no really call them!

>400 Mhz is only needed for 120Hz @ 2560x1440. A normal 1920x1200 (or below) monitor does not need that high of bandwidth for 120hz/3d.

oh, well even if it's a secret you can tell me it's name, i won't tell anyone, i promise! ;)

It is a YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE. However the only the older ones were capable of super high refresh rate.

Xevious, what is your modeline and override settings?

I have the same monitor and its a 2B (older version) as well.

The driver keeps bitching at me about 330 being the max...

EDIT: Got it, was missing an option, but 400 seems to be the hard max on a GTX 480.

Okay if someone from NVIDIA can give a straight answer that the max pixel clock isn't hardcoded in the drivers and a GTX 680 can indeed allow >400, then please reply. It sounds hardcoded if people in Windows can take 4x0 series cards past 400 slightly...

Yeah I am woried that this is a driver limitation so even upgrading to a gtx 680 wont get me past 400 Mhz.
