GPU utilization

Hello,

I can't obtain the GPU utilization for my gt218 (ion) or my gtx280.
does nvidia-smi is supposed to work on Geforce series ?
I searched for a supported graphics card matrix without success.

Is there another tool existing to monitor the GPU usage ?

PS:
in the time i've tried to install ganglia and the nvidia python module, same result, no GPU utilization metrics.
