Segfault on Ubuntu 12.04 using 295.xx drivers with GTX 285m

I'm running the latest updates for Ubuntu 12.04 and experience X crashes due to an nvidia driver segfault.

It hapens at random times, but usually when I click a link in firefox, or run a command in terminal.

The report was created with version 295.33, but the segfault still exists in 295.40.

Here is the backtrace: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/100036660/gdb-Xorg.txt

Here is a detailed bug report which should contain all necessary info: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rs/+bug/973096

If there's any more info needed, let me know.

It would help if you could get debugging symbols for Xorg and post the backtrace again. Thanks!

Sure thing, if you could point me in the right direction on how to go about this, I'll make sure to do so right away.

I think there's a package named xserver-xorg-core-dbg on Ubuntu that you can just install? The backtrace should be more helpful after that. Make sure to also install libc6-dbg just in case.

Sorry it took so long, I've been quite busy and haven't had time to do a backtrace. This is what I did to trigger a segfault: Opened up Firefox, went to YouTube, watched a video fullscreen in 720p.

Here it is: http://paste.ubuntu.com/948502/

If you need anything else, let me know.

Also, if you could please let me know when you get this, and keep me up to date on what exactly the problem is. (Is it actually a bug with the driver, another package, or my fault).

Thanks.

Plagman: Is the latest backtrace helpful?

Somewhat, yeah; I can't pinpoint an exact issue just by looking at it, but it does provide helpful context. Can you verify if it still happens against 302.07?

Would you prefer a manual install, or using the xorg-edgers ppa okay?

Should be the same.

So far, I've had only a couple crashes in the last few days. But we'll see how it goes.

Still happening on 302.11. It happens especially when using Flash content like YouTube, but it can also happen randomly.
