Radeon HD 7000 series price drop

As expected, AMD is dropping the prices of some of their 7000 series cards.
$70 is a pretty nice drop on the 7970, plus free copies of DiRT Showdown, Nexuiz, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution plus The Missing Link DLC.

Radeon HD 7970 - $549 to $479

Radeon HD 7950 - $449 to $399

Radeon HD 7770 - $159 to $139

Re: Radeon HD 7000 series price drop

680's are now more than $100 more than 7970's here because of price gouging due to low availablity and high demand. At these prices the 7970 is the better deal hands down, any weakness it has compared to the 680 really isn't that large and having more VRAM is more important than slightly lower power use/heat. On top of that the OC editions with great cooling and more comparable performance to the 680 are still priced significantly lower than the 680's here.

Re: Radeon HD 7000 series price drop

The average Australian price is $100 lower than the average price at launch ($580-620 vs $680-720). Most of that was reduction of the gouging, but they still dropped on average $20 as this was announced... I expect them to end up maybe another $40 lower within a few weeks. They're finally reaching reasonable prices, while 680 is $650-700+ and mostly unavailable... supply and demand I guess.

Price drops seem to have come into full effect here with standard 7970's at $520-530 and OC editions at $560-590. Looking good, finally!

Re: Radeon HD 7000 series price drop

I'm not a fan of those DC2 cards really, 3 slots is overkill. The Sapphire OC edition is really nice for a single card cooling solution and they're a pretty damn good deal at $560-70 right now. The choice between that and a reference edition from someone reputable like MSI/GB/Sapphire for $520 is a hard one though. My reference cooler 5870 has served me well, but I may end up with a quieter case in the future.
