redhat 9.... upgraded to kernal 2.4.20-20.9

when i try to install it out of x server, it says it cannot install, cannot find the kernal version.....

Is there a fix for this?

this is also a fresh install.

Ive been reading the forums, and im trying some things as we speak. (or as you read :p)

AutisticWunderr 09-12-03 08:43 PM

im downloading this...........

rpm -ivh http://mirrors.kernel.org/redhat/red...-20.9.i386.rpm

should i be in gui, or command line when im downloading/installing this?

what should i do afterwards?

hehehe, im a relative newb to linux :D

AutisticWunderr 09-12-03 08:51 PM

getting a dependency error.

Doing a complete install instead of just a desktop install :)

upgrading then trying again

AutisticWunderr 09-12-03 11:42 PM

Okay, I did a complete install now.

When it try to run it, i get this:

[root@Ameng downloads]# rpm -ivh kernel-source-2.4.20-20.9.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package kernel-source-2.4.20-20.9 is already installed

So, I guess I didnt need that.

Does this mean I just have to go into my XF86Config and change the video from nv to nvidia?

Ming you, i still havent installed the video drivers, I have just done a complete install and updated everything thru RHN.

Please help :(
