Upgraded after a long time
my old system was a C2D with 8Gb ram ,2 Hd's in raid O and a 8800gtx
yesterday iv got a new one , I7 3770k asrock fatality Z77 µatx 32GB gskill 1866 512Gb samsung SSD 830 WD BLACK 2tb back up samsung Blu ray player noctua C14 cooler NZXT vulcan case TT Grand power 1200 . 690gtx has yet to come through the mail . the cooler was a very tight fit , could only be fitted in 1 way . it actually a bitt too close to the vga card . its also sitting over all the RAM sockets so they get decent cooling also . havnet done oc,ing yet , have to get a bit more familiar with the bios first etc . psu might be a bit too much for that system , but i always buy large psu's . the cable routing possibilities in the system are ok , you hardly see any :) . |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
That's quite the upgrade man, most drool worthy. That heatsink is massive but also one of, if not, the best out there right now. With a nice oc, which you're set up nicely for, that beast should last you for quite some time
Hope you enjoy it |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
Nice system..yeah i just upgraded from a C2D with 4 GB ram, it is a huge difference.
That cooler I heard is one of the best but I went with a smaller one, I don't really need to do that much of a overclock. TBH I saw very little difference in FPS when overclocking, not even sure it worth it that much. I guess at this point CPU is so fast no games will bottleneck right now. |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
Nice rig dude.

Re: Upgraded after a long time
the cooler is mostly for silence as you can still get good performance with both fans spinning at low rpm .
i will adjust the handle with longer bolts on the case as i find the stock ones too short only a few threads into the case . |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
I'm looking to upgrade too,how much minus the 680 was the upgrade?

Re: Upgraded after a long time

without vga card it was a little under 3k in usd currency |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
That is the best heatsinkFan cooler you can get ,the only thing thats runs a little cooler is the Corsair H-100 but only by 2C.

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/T-.../picture_2.jpg it arrived today through the mail . as you can see very tight space between cooler and video card . my picture taking skills are crap btw .(nana2) |
Re: Upgraded after a long time
Still a bit odd , i cant run all 4 sticks at default voltage and xmp settings . it needs to be raised to 1.65 volts in order to run without bsod or sudden hangs . next week i'll be upgrading another computer , this time with an asus gene V . i'll test the same sticks on that one to see if the sticks are the problem or the asrock mobo .
