9600 GT with nvidia driver occasionally blanking

1 Attachment(s)
Replaced my old 8500 card with a (used) 9600 GT. Connected the 6 pin power cable to 2 different rails of the power supply as it should be.

The card works OK in VESA mode, but when using the nvidia driver (latest 295.49 and earlier 295.33), the screen is blanked randomly for about 1 sec. The time between blanking varies, e.g. 5 sec to 30 sec. The frequency seems random, i.e. it doesn't become more frequent if the GPU is busy.

The machine is basically idle, GPU temp at 48 C.
Tried adding the pci=nommconf kernel boot option as described in the stability sticky thread but no change.
Tried upgrading the xserver-xorg pkg. but that didn't help either.

Could be an ACPI or DPMS interaction bug ?

Re: 9600 GT with nvidia driver occasionally blanking

Well, I just tried it.
No luck, the same problem persists.

Also tried disabling ACPI in kernel boot, disabling dynamic twinview (this is a card with 2 DVI outputs) without success.

The frequency of blanking is not influenced by the load of the GPU; it happens the same way if the GPU is idle or running OpenGL benchmarks.
