happy with new monitor
A lot of people say 1920x1200 is the way to go and now I can see why. I bought my wife a DELL U2412M for Christmas and just had to buy another one for me too. I really like the extra vertical space, it makes computing much better. I didn't want to spend the extra cash for the 2410 so I think the 2412 is a good compromise. I had the LG 23" IPS236V and the 2412 is much better to me. I know the panel is pretty much the same but the 24" size coupled with the 1200 vs 1080 makes it much better. I gave the LG to my sister-in-law, she was using an old 1280x1024 19" so she's happy too.

So glad to hear that you like your monitor...Now buy 2 more and maybe 2 more top end GPU's and be blown away by Nvidia surround gaming.

Re: happy with new monitor
I've never been a fan of 16:9 displays for anything other than movies to be honest. It seems many will disagree but I feel cramped when on one. Glad you like it, its a very nice monitor

Re: happy with new monitor
first tip: move the task bar to one side on a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor. That will already reclaim 5% of the vertical space.
2nd tip: keep your windows out of full screen for most program, as few use such width. Use win7 ability to set full vertical with ~60% width. This way, you can keep 2 tasks on the desktop at once. This has helped me switch to 16:9, this also works great on 16:10. Especially on huge monitors (25"+). |
