Problem connecting Pioneer VSX-S300 to Nvidia Ion - flat panel scaling solves it?

Dear all,

I am trying to connect an Zotac Nvidia Ion motherboard to my new Pioneer A/V through HDMI.

While the hdmi connection works flawlessly when I connect it to my LCD directly, when I connect it to the Pioneer A/V I don't get any sound our video, even though:
1) The A/V's "hdmi light" is on, meaning it has established an hdmi connection
2) If I turn the pc on and let Linux boot, I won't get any sound or video. But if I then switch the connection to my LCD directly and look at NVIDIA-settings, it lists the "Pio VSX-S300 (DFP-1 on GPU-0) (with correct model!) in the "display model" ...so it is recognising the device

While I was fiddling around with the settings I managed to make the system work:
1) I went to DFP-1 (Pioneer...) in nvidia-settings
2) Unchecked "force full gpu scaling" in "Flat Panel Scaling"
3) Switched the hdmi cable over to the A/V
4) Presto! I had sound* and video

The problem is that if I restart, I lose the image again. And if I switch back to the LCD, I see the "force full gpu scaling" is again checked.

How can I make this permanent? I tried adding FlatPanelProperties" "DFP-1: Scaling = Native;", but I must be missing something: when I restart that setting is not applied and nvidia-settings has the checkbox checked.
I attach my current xorg.conf file.
I appreciate all the help with this!

* Actually the hdmi sound in 5.1 configuration is wrong: the speaker test is not right, as some speakers are switched (eg: the centre speaker test outputs in the left back speaker, or the right back outputs in the subwoofer)...but I'll get to that once the other problem is solved!

Edit: the "wrong speakers" was fixed, see the solution in http://askubuntu.com/questions/48406.../142942#142942.

The main question still applies, though: how do you disable "Flat Panel Scaling" permanently?

Do you have any idea how to solve the original question, ie, make "force full gpu scaling" in "Flat Panel Scaling" changes permanent?

I still haven't figured this one out. Is there any nvidia genious out there that can crack this one out?
