Microsoft AHCI Driver and SSD
I've been searching but can't find a definitive, current answer to this.
Is the Microsoft AHCI driver still preferred over the current AMD AHCI driver? I'm going to be updating my SSD drive this weekend and am just trying to get my ducks in a row. If it's still the preferred, does it exist in the Windows 7 install or is it required to be available on floppy or USB drive? It'll be going on the motherboard in my sig. |
Re: Microsoft AHCI Driver and SSD
Not sure how Intel is, crainger. A buddy of mine did point me to this post for AMD though.

Re: Microsoft AHCI Driver and SSD
Yeah. I've read similar posts where guys with Intel boards have found the Microsoft driver performs better, however I've found others where they claim otherwise. To top it off I've found further benchmarks where they find it depends on the drive as to which it prefers.
Right now I have Intels RST drivers installed for my temp monitoring program, but I could live without it. I might have to do some tests of my own. |
Re: Microsoft AHCI Driver and SSD
I prefer the intel driver but my setup is a little older than most these days
