You're going to pay $50 a month for 1GB of data, which is shared amongst all of the phones on your plan. You'll keep your grandfathered contract for now, but when you upgrade to a new phone you'll be forced to switch to this plan.

Luckily I just renewed my contract a few months ago, so I still have a couple years of unlimited left. This is pretty ****ty on Verizon's part. :thumbdwn:

::(:

I get 3Gb for free. Why are they locking down? To stop reckless tethering?

I get unlimited for nothing at sprint (unlimited data is included as baseline for all of their plans.)

That's a lot of Dr Pepper wallpaper downloads.

I have Sprint also with unlimited data. The thing is it would take you a month of constant downloading to hit 1GB of useage at their lousy 3G speeds.

I only use my cell phone as, well, a phone. I call people on it. Don't text, don't download anything.

I'm not too worried about this. :)

That's an easy problem to fix: just change your PRL to hit verizon's towers, you'll get their speeds without paying their prices.

Oh wait, you have an iphone, nevermind, you can't do that without derpbreaking.

Well, you'll be able to drop your bill from $90 a month to $80 a month if you go from 1GB shared to 300MB shared.

No, I'm well aware of how I'm being ripped off for how little I use my phone. However it is a nice convenience to have in the event of an emergency. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. So as long as I can continue to afford the bill I'll be keeping it. :)

You can get a much better deal with another carrier if all you use it for is talking. Hell, you can get a much better deal if you use lots of data too. Boost and Virgin both do $40 a month plans for unlimited everything - that's like half of what verizon charges for their lowest tier.

We have pretty fast 3G and 4G here, even then I struggle to use my 3Gb per month.
