Help me upgrade
Hi all

I think the last time Ive been on nvnews was probably over 3 years ago. :)

Anyway I'm looking to upgrade my mobo and cpu but unsure what to go as I'm a bit out of the loop with hardware these days

I'm thinking of going

-ASUS P8Z77-V for $200 (aud)
-Intel Core i5 3570K $235 (aud)

my question is any difference from 3570K and the normal Intel Core i5 3570?

also unsure with the mobo theres also LK, LX and Pro versions but they all look the same to me?

any advice would be appreciated. :)

Re: Help me upgrade
The difference between 3570K and 3570 CPU are K version is unlocked and the other is locked.

You can check ASUS site to add up to 5 mobos to compare the differences each mobo. All looked the same but each mobo has features removed to lower cost.

Re: Help me upgrade
If you plan on overclocking then get the K series because it does overclock very good with the multipler. The FSB on the 3570k does not overclock very much. ,unless you go with the X79 and a i7-3820 .It has a ratio where you can change the memory buss to 1.25 and 1.66 .and get good overclocks but that would run around $280 for the i7-3820 and $220 for a gigabyte GA-X79-UD3,but you can run two, three or quad SLI with them because of the 40 lanes. But if you just want a gameing computer then the i5-2500K and the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 would do the job great
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072 they would run you around $348. The ASRock Z77 Extreme4 can run SLI ,plus you could get 16gigs of G.Skill DDRs 1600Mhz 1.5v at cas 9-9-9-24 for $75.that would be a pretty fast gameing rig for $423.The i5-2500K runs between 4.4 to 4.8gigs and runs cool. The i5-3570K with a decent water cooler will run around 4.2 yo 4.5gigs.It does run a little hotter then the 2500K .But still a good deal
