Razer confirms Windows 8 gaming tablet with integrated gamepad
Gaming accessory and PC company Razer has just confirmed via its Facebook and Twitter pages that it will definitely be bringing its "Project Fiona" gaming tablet to market. Like other gaming tablets we've seen recently (including the Archos Gamepad and Wikipad), Razer's offering aims to differentiate itself by adding buttons and joysticks to go with the touchscreen. Unlike those tablets, however, Razer's will include an Intel CPU and a relatively powerful GPU. In theory, the tablet would be able to play touch-oriented tablet games, gamepad-optimized console ports, and traditional mouse-and-keyboard PC games
The company's announcement notes the tablet is still in the design phase, and that it will be taking customer suggestions for the tablet's design, features, specifications, and pricing on its Facebook page. The original "Project Fiona" concept tablet shown off at this year's CES was running an Ivy Bridge CPU coupled with an unidentified GPU, according to AnandTech. Itcould apparently playSkyrim smoothly at high settings on its 10.1" 1280Ã?800 display.
Razer first got into the PC market last year with its Razer Blade gaming laptop, which was recently refreshed. Look for a review of the new Blade in the coming weeks.
