New Sony Android handsets to arrive with 1080p displays
Alongside a plethora of other new gadgets, Sony is debuting two new Android handsets: the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. Both phones will feature a 5-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and 13MP fast-capture camera with Exmore RS, which can also capture HDR video.
The Xperia Z, referred to as the "true, super phone experience" at Sony's official CES press conference, features a 5-inch Full HD 1080Ã?1920 Reality Display fueled by the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2'the same engine featured in Sony's 1080p televisions. The handset also sports an asynchronous Snapdragon S4 with 2GB of RAM, NFC-enabled screen mirroring, and a dust and water-resistant chassis.
Besides the life-resistant casing, the Xperia ZL features almost all of the same components. No pricing or availability is currently available for either device, but Sony says they will begin shipping this quarter. We'll have a hands-on with both handsets once the show floor opens.
