changing resolutions, Desktop scaling

I need to adjust the resolution and have cloned screens while connected to a projector.

With the 301 drivers, it was a bit annoying to figure out that I had to use the ViewPort settings, but managed to figure out that:

nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DFP: 1920x1080 { ViewPortIn=1024x768, ViewPortOut=1440x1080+0+0 }, CRT: 1024x768+0+0"

would do the trick.

This worked for a while just fine. Now this doesn't work as the gnome3 environment (Fedora 18) no longer scales when I change the resolution. This means I can't even access additional workspaces or change users, etc. because the desktop has not scaled.

Any suggestions on this?

Re: changing resolutions, Desktop scaling

Can anyone at least confirm similar behavior: gnome environment does not scale when changing metamodes on the fly?

Re: changing resolutions, Desktop scaling

The issue turned out to be primary/secondary display.

xrandr --output VGA-0 --primary

prior to running nvidia-settings fixed the problem.
