New GPU from Nvidia Announced Today, the GeForce GTX 770
Today Nvidia has introduced their second high-end GPU from the new Geforce 700 series ' the GTX 770, just a week after the announcement of the new single-chip top model, namely the GeForce GTX 780. The new Geforce GTX 770 graphic cards will come by default with the same cooling as the GTX 780 and the GTX TITAN, or at least the reference design boards, however the partners will also be offering non-reference PCB designs and cooling solutions as well. The new GTX 770 is based on the GK104, unlike the GTX 780 and GTX TITAN that uses the GK110, actually the GTX 770 is more like an updated version of the GTX 680 than an update over the GTX 670. GeForce GTX 770 has the same number of CUDA Cores as the GTX 680, but the GPU is running at a bit higher clock, the memory configuration by default is 2GB GDDR5, with another 4GB version also available. The memory bus is still 256-bit as with the GTX 680, however the operating frequency of the new GTX is increased from 6 GHz to 7 GHz. Also the new GTX 770 features support for the GPU Boost 2.0 technology and is optimized for high performance silent operation thanks to the good cooler that also allows for a quite decent overclockbility of the card.

The best thing about the new GeForce GTX 770 is that the price of the cards based on it are going to cost the same as the GTX 670, while at the same time the performance they will be offering is expected to be slightly higher than what the more expensive GTX 680 does provide. So with the GTX 770 you are going to get more than the performance of a GTX 680, but with a lower price, so unless you already have GTX 680 in your PC you may consider upgrading to GTX 770 if the price of the GTX 780 or the GTX TITAN is a bit too much for you. Going for two GTX 770-based video cards in SLI configuration would be a great choice for getting higher performance at a more affordable price if you play games on a multi-monitor 2D or stereo 3D.
