SuSE 8.2, nForce, AMD64
Has anyone been able to get the nForce drivers to compile/install in SuSE 8.2 beta 9 for x86_64. Everytime I try it, I get the following errors:
cc1: error: bad value (x86_64) for -march= switch
cc1: error: bad value (x86_64) for -mcpu= switch
cc1: error: -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 is not between 4 and 12
Nobody has successfully installed the drivers on and AMD64 system.
Okay that's not true. I was able to install it on SuSe last week after working on it for almost the entire week. Only to find out that AGP didn't work so it was pretty useless.
Basically. You can't use 3D on and X86_64 machine so you're better off staying with the stock nv driver.
BTW I'm not even sure THEY have been able to run it because NOBODY's really getting support from enywhere for it...

On an X86-64 machine using GCC, no -march/-mcpu/other GCC options are required, as the only CPU for the X86-64 arch so far is K8. GCC produces K8 optimized code by default. Check your /etc/make.conf.
Here on AMD64 Gentoo, 2.6.0-test10, 1.0-4499, AMD64 system, the only problem I have is my AGP-less-ness. I'm going to start a fresh topic and rant, see if I can get any NV techs' attentions.
Wish me luck on this AGP bug.
