X problem (minor, but extremely ANNOYING)

I seem to have a minor superannoying problem in X. It can be avoided to happen, but still it's somewhat impossible. If I press the numlock key, the mouse hangs. I don't have the mouse controlling with keypad enabled. If I then restart X, it will only hang the keyboard also. If there's someone who could tell me what to do, please do so. :) I'd be very pleased.

Here's some data on my system :
Duron 700 on Asus A7V
256M/PC133
30GB hd
Slackware9.1/KDE3.1
ASUS AGP-V7100T GeForce2MX

I guess that's all. Thanks. Again.

anything in your xfree-log? (/var/log/XFree86.0.log or similar..., there you will find boot messages from X as well as errors)
