Beta Linux Drivers? (46.20)
1.0-4620 dated on Aug 14th, 2003

Needless to say you are on your own and NO ONE will take responsability if something weird happens on your computers.

I won't be able to test them in the next 12 hours. Sorry.

I will try them out this evening

Thank you !!! My Geforce 5700 FX Ultra works now :D.

I can finally run 3D applications without hanging after a few seconds, nice. I haven't tried the use of shaders yet, but I'm sure that will work as well. I hope the final drivers will work even better.

And of course I'm aware I am using Beta drivers and it's my own responsibility if something goes wrong ;)

Thanks again :)

Wow , the control panel is amazing.

These drivers seem to be even better than I expected. I haven't tried them yet to see if they solve the X lockups everybody are talking about.

/me look teh watch... 4 hours to go...

hmn, using a 5900 ultra

NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86 nvidia.o Kernel Module 1.0-4620 Mon Sep 29 08:49:59 PDT 2003

Status: Enabled
AGP Rate: 8x
Fast Writes: Enabled
SBA: Enabled
SBA is now enabled, it wasn't before

the installer patch refused to work so in my rush to get it up and running I just copied the other files manually

first time starting xfree I got a nice hardlock
2nd attempt it started with a somewhat garbled screen, switched back to vesa fb, same corruption

its as if the screen is being wrapped over, but its not

will look into it but currently using 4620 kernel module, 4496 glx + xfree driver

the settings util is rather nice :)
would be esp nice if they could merge it with something like nvclock

will get some screenshots up

fixed it
bothered to read the stuff on minion.de and copied across the stuff in the tls dirs instead :|
the top screenshot is now outdated ;/

from what ive just run I get 7fps more in q3
yay \o/
the setup util saves its settings at ~/.nvidia-settings-rc
apart from that it doesn't really do much

will test more stuff tomorrow

i think i just crapped in my pants. geforce 5700:

shade@eris shade $ glxgears
23783 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4756.600 FPS

with AA cranked up:
12130 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2426.000 FPS

wow. hats off to nvidia. and the control panel rocks.

just for the record it wasnt first posted on nforcershq but it was posted here in another thread.

another member of this forum gave me the link but i'll leave his name out so if he wishes to tell everyone he can.

also they work great over here :-) still use opengl 1.4 though and not 1.5 yet....thats probably going to be in the 1.0-5xxx release though i'd guess.

Awesome. And these are dated August! Just think what they have going all the way now in December? /me's teeth water.

russofris 12-04-03 11:35 PM

They work with Mupen, which was all that is really important to me.

1280x1024 Zelda64 (OOT) running with 4X AA is bliss.

NWN works as well.

Thank you for your time,
Frank Russo

Just wanted to drop a note here.

It work very well with the minon patch for 2.6 w/VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x] (rev a2)

Playing around with nvidia-settings and it is awsome. I am not a real game player I like foobilliards and such. There are no more jagged edges, AWSOME, even with the puny little card that I have. I get 9,650+ FPS also.

Thanks .....................
