New gaphics card problem

Hi, I have recently purchased a new graphics card (Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 AGP 8x 256MB) I had an old GeForce 4 MX 440 PCI 64MB card installed and running in a Red Hat 9.0 enviroment. XF86 will run fine using my old settings (I haven't changed a thing) but it still believes that I have a PCI card with 64MB. What do I need to do in order to take advantage of my new card? Also I heard that updating the Nvidia Driver with an Athalon XP CPU causes problems, is this true?

OS: Red Hat 9.0
Kernel: 2.4.20-27.9
Nvidia driver version : 1.0-4496
CPU: AMD Athalon XP 3000+
Memory: 1GB DDR-RAM
Current Video Card: Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 256MB
