Mandrake 9.0 upgrade - x crashes
Upgraded from Mandrake 8.2 to 9.0 final last night and haven't been able to get X up and running (using XFree86 Version 4.2.1) with default Mandrake driver or latest Nvidia drivers (which I recompiled after upgrade). Right now I'm getting the Nvidia splash screen, then a blue screen with the cursor, and then it flashes between X and console and crashes. No useful error messages at crash.
Looking in /var/log/XFree86.0.log I see the following two warnings:
(WW) Option "XkbOptions" requires an string value
(WW) LoadModule: given non-canonical module name "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensi
(II) Reloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
I also note that when it loads "glx" and
"nvidia" they are compiled for 4.0.2 while all other loaded modules are compiled for 4.2.1. No error messages here, but I'm guessing this might be the problem.
Any Ideas? XFree86.0.log attached.
Re: Mandrake 9.0 upgrade - x crashes
I have the same problem.. I installed mandrake 9.rc3 and compiled the kernel module and the glx module from the source rpms
when i try to start the x server it segfaults(11) after loading the glx module.. if i uncomment it in the config the server starts fine.
i can't attach my config cause i'm at work right now..
I've tried commenting out Load "glx" but that hasn't done anything for me.
