Console Problems - Mandrake 9.2
I Just installed Mandrake 9.2 from the ISO distributed by Mandrake Site and Downloaded the Linux Display Driver - IA32 Version: 1.0-5328 to use with my GeForce 4 Mx 440 PCI - Video Bios Revision - 04.17.00.69.00 on my Intel P3 1.13 Ghz - Soyo 7VBA133U Motherboard.
It installed and worked perfect, hardware acceleration also, under X (XFree 4.3.23), but when I switch to the console mode (CTRL+F1 under X) the text become unreadable. I tried to install the previous version of NVidia drivers I
downloaded (1.0-4363) because it was working without problems on the same hardware with Mandrake 9.1, but the installer gives me a message saying that this driver doesn't have the appropriate modules for the current version of kernel (2.4.22-10mdk).
I tried the NVidia Linux Forums but I couldn't find a solution for this issue.
Attached is a copy of my XF86Config-4 and XFree86.0.log files (in the same file) with X started using "logverbose 5".
Thank you a Lot.
4363 works, new drivers make frame buffer buggy :-/
then run installer and when it tell you to recompile, say "Yes"
Problem Solver - MDK9.2 - Console Mode
I just Downloaded and Installed the kernel-source-2.4.22-10mdk.i586.rpm from a Mandrake Mirror.
Running the NVIDIA-4363 installer and confirming the compilation of the kernel module, the video configuration started working perfect, now its possible to switch to the console without problems.
Thank you again.
