Tribes 2 stopped working after driver upgrade to 5328
I have upgraded to 5328 from 4496 and Tribes 2 stopped working. Now, even downgrading to 4496 doesn't seem to solve the problem. Tribes 2 simply quits without doing anything, which, according to the README file of the NVIDIA driver, indicates problems with the GLX part. However, everything seems to initialize just fine. Since downgrading the driver to the previous version does not help as well, I am thinking that maybe the driver isn't faulty - I just can't find any other reason.
When I start X, I get the logo screen, so the driver is being used. When looking at xdpyinfo, I get the following extensions listed:
number of extensions: 29
According to the README, NVIDIA-GLX should show up as well, but it doesn't. The sanity checks included in the driver installation report that everything is correct.
I'm running Debian Unstable with a GeForce2 MX, I have attached my XFree86 log. (the last resolution switch seems to be me trying to run tuxracer, which works)
NV-GLX and GLX both show up for me (They're also in your list there), and Tribes 2 works fine. I'm using the 5328 driver now. Are you sure this is an nVidia problem and not something else?
I'm not really sure but the only thing I did was upgrading the driver. I can see no other changes in my system, deleting the Tribes 2 configuration does not help either.
T2 is quite known for crashing but it should at least attempt a switch to its graphics mode before dying.
Since I've seen the Postal 2 demo being announced here as well, I tried it and it dies with "Couldn't load OpenGL library".
Other OpenGL applications like Tuxracer or bzflag work fine. They look accelerated, but I never played them without acceleration, so I can't tell.
I would be grateful for any hints on how to solve this problem.
