5328 won't work with Fedora kernel 2.4.22-1.2149
1 Attachment(s)
I installed the nvidia driver 5328 in Fedora Core 1 and it just shows a blank screen.

I installed with:
(go to init 3)
export CC=gcc32
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5328-pkg1.run

On boot i just get a black screen, i can only press ctrl-alt-del to reboot,
or i can SSH from another system over the network to the affected machine.

I think at some point i did see an error of X crashing and giving me a 104 error.

The nvidia module gets loaded fine.

Asus A7V600 motherboard (KT600, although nvidia detects it as KT300)
Asus GeForce FX 5600 VideoSuide AGP 8x 128mb

Fedora Core 1

(attached is the XFree86 log that was generated)

i installed the 4620 driver which works fine.

Does /dev/apm_bios exist? Try adding "acpi=off" to the end of the grub boot line.

I did try with acpi=off but that had no effect.

Its strange, now that i'm booting with the older driver, i can see
that /dev/apm_bios is there.

Although when i was booting the new driver, in the log file i
can see this error:

(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)
