Suse 9.0 FX5200 (0x0322) Driver:1.0-5328 No 3D Support

1 Attachment(s)
I use a Nvidia FX 5200 Video Card (0x0322),
the driver Version is 1.0-5328,
the distribution is Suse 9.0
VideoBIOS: 04.34.20.15.00 (not sure, got the information from XFree86.0.log)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1600+ (about 1400Mgh)
Motherboard: MSI K7T266 Pro2 (Apollo KT266A Chipset - VT8366A)

I have no 3D Acceleration and my FRree86 log says my Graphic Chip is unknown, 3Ddiag says it is a dummy driver and i need to download the correct driver from nvidia.com, but i got the driver from this page :-)

Here is my XFree86.config

Same Here

I have the same problem.I installed 5328 and although everything seems ok ,I have no 3D acceleration. My PC is an Athlon 2200+ ,with 512 MB RAM and an MSI GeForce FX 5700 Ultra.Something seems very wrong about 5200,5700 models.....
During installation Suse does not list my card, although the NVIDIA list contains the all new 5950 Ultra. In this forum I haven't seen complaints from 5900,5950 users. This week I will try Fedora and Mandrake 9.2 as my last resort.I don't think it will change anything...

Timothy_Shawn 01-20-04 08:02 AM

Does someone know where my Problem is???

Why does my Logfile say my chipset is unknown?

energyman76b 01-20-04 08:15 PM

Hi,

please remove this:
Section "DRI"
Group "video"
Mode 0660
EndSection

from your config, as the README told you, and try again. glxinfo will show you, if glx is working and cat /proc/drivers/nvidia/agp/status will tell you, if AGP is working.

Glück Auf

Try the patched version of the drivers from http://www.sh.nu/download/nvidia/linux-2.4/.
It really rocks:D :D !!Everything ok now.But I heven't tried it on anything else than SUSE 9.0....

levenger 01-27-04 01:08 PM

jedah,

Are you running 2.6 or the 2.4.21-166 kernel. If it's the -166 one, can you post the nvidia-installer.log file here so I can look at it? Thanks

Andy Mecham 01-27-04 02:43 PM

Your log file says "unknown chipset" because the kernel you're using doesn't have an entry for PCI ID 10de:0322. This is a harmless message. Further down in your log, you'll notice that it mentions that you have a GeForce FX 5200.

According to your X log, the NVIDIA driver is working fine. How are you determining that you have "no 3d acceleration"? What's the output of 'glxinfo'?

Here's the zip file containing XF86Config,XFree86.0.log and nvidia-installer.log of both Fedora Core 1 and SUSE 9.0 installlations. They work fine in both:D :D
