45.44 Fps what am i doing wrong?

I used gears to bench mark this. I have a amd athlong xp at 1.7g and 1 gig ddr ram. I have an Nvidia Geforce2 Ti 4200.

cat /proc/drivers/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: AGPGART
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled

My XF86Config

My Dmesg output

Any clues why my performance is so pathetic, by the way I'm on Kernel 2.6.1 running driver version 4496 with minion.de patches.

You should comment out this bit in your XF86Config:

# This loads the DRI module
Load "dri"

Isnt DRI a good thing, that i need?

sirexar 01-22-04 09:39 PM

and..

And that brought me to 48 fps plus 2 sec delay

You do not want 'dri' loaded.
Reportedly agpgart is still pretty broken on 2.6. I see no difference in performance between nvagp and agpgart on my machine, while on any of the 2.6 test / release builds I've done, but its worth the try. (I sound like a broken record if people are reading lots of my posts today, /me chants.. NvAGP!)

Try this Option:

Section "Device"
Identifier "mycard"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NvAGP" "1"
#VideoRam 262144
# Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate
EndSection

And I suggest removing the second 'Device' definition if its unused in your config.

Any other suggestions

48 fps SUCKS and I have feel my hardware is pretty good. Anyone else got any clues?

You could try 5328.
